Are you a candidate for VRS in 2015?

With precision ag advancing world wide at an exponential rate, it is tough for producers to determine what is really going to pencil out on the bottom line. For the 2014 growing season, Rea Seed will be writing variable rate seeding prescriptions for those who are equipped to do so and are interested in getting more out of every acre.

VRS involves writing a prescription on the field level according to:

  • management zones

  • soil types, or

  • mulitple year yield analysis (MYYA)

Managment zones can be obtained from a variety of factors, but most zones are determined by the grower. We can sit down and examine the field of choice with the one that knows it best, the grower. We then separate those zones into potentially higher, lower, or average yielding areas. After that, we assign the population prescription.

Soil data is imported into our AgLeader SMS software. With our agronomic knowledge and the grower's knowledge of field history, we can begin structuring seeding rates for different soil types, as well as zones specified by the grower.

Perhaps the most economical of the three choices is multiple year yield analysis (or MYYA). By uploading yield data from year's past into AgLeader SMS software, we run analysis combining years and years worth of yield data to determine the most accurate form of high, low, and average yielding areas of your fields. From there, we generate a prescription for the grower's field.

Variable Rate Seeding (VRS)

So are you capable of running VRS technology on your farm?

Candidates have:

  • planter equipped with hydraulic or electric drive

  • fields with variable yields

  • fertility substantial for top-end yields

Contact us for our VRS program which includes:

  • Meeting with you to set up perscriptions

  • Guiding you through the button presses in the field

  • Stand evaluation at emergence

  • Ear evaluation at R4-R5

  • Yield evaluation at harvest to determine final ROI on your variable rate seeding perscription
